Domestic mobile production halted because Government failed to fulfill its pledge
“Domestic Mobile production has come to nothing because Government failed to fulfill its promises,” Ebrahim Mottale told Mobna news agency.
“Four rules would have to be observed by Government before mobile production would get off the ground, but the government failed to abide by them,” he said.
“The rules were: protection of domestic mobile production, enforcing 60% tariff on imported mobile sets for four years, cracking down on mobile smuggling, and providing enough incentives for domestic manufacturers,” he added
The government has so far spent 60 billion rials towards that enterprise which was to no avail and also brought heavy losses to domestic investors.
