Mobile smuggling continues

Over last years, the smugglers’ activities have been going on unchecked to the extent that 95% of the mobile market is now in their hands, and authorized importers have limited their supply of sets with original warranty, which are disappearing from their shop windows.
Authorized agents believe the current import tariff (25% plus 3% VAT) only helped the smugglers since they had to compete with high import tariff in a dwindling market.
The tariff was raised four years ago from 4% to 60% in an effort to back domestic production, but that was to no avail, and its subsequent cut to 25% has not been able to boost domestic mobile production either.
