National project for manufacture of 6 million mobile phone line equipments not supported

Mobile Communication Technologies is among companies which have been contracted for capacity making of 6 million mobile phone lines.
“Standard approval of Mobile Communication Development produced equipments has been received from Radio Communication and Regulations Organization but MCI has not received the equipments,” Gholam-Reza Behrouzi told Mobna news agency
“The production has now stopped. If the project is not supported and the employer does not receive domestic equipments, completing the project within the deadline seems unlikely,” he said.
“Although the project was assigned to the private sector through the Iranian President emphasis, but the sector did not receive the expected support,” he added.
The fourth phase of First Operator network development contract was signed in February 2006 with the Mobile Communication Development Consortium in order to produce equipments for 6 million mobile phone lines.
The consortium is comprised of 6 domestic companies of ITMC, Mobile Communication Technologies, Micro Wave, Iran Telecommunication Industries, Iran Electronic Parts Industries and SaShiraz.
The consortium promised to produce antenna, BTS and radio equipments during 18 months after signing the contract but the project is not complete and it has been extended to the end of this Iranian year (March 2010).
