Postal rates to be exempt from Government subsidies
Members of Parliament yesterday approved some other terms of the bill.
This requires revision of article 3 of the Fifth Economic Development Plan by which the government is obliged to implement postal rates which were in force before Sep 2004.
Last year the Post Office increased postal rates 40% above what had been approved in 2004 causing widespread protest by its customers and the private post operator but the high rates remain in force.
