Value added tax law only increases mobile set smuggling: an expert

“Approving value added tax law and receiving three percent extra custom tax from authorized importers in fact means that mobile set import tariff is 28 percent,” Citadel Telecom Company managing director Saeed Eskandari, Sony Ericssons official agent in Iran said.
“This law will succeed in market only when mobile phone import tariff ha decrease to four percent as it was before,” he added.
Last week the government announced that will postpone implementing this law. This move was warmly welcomed by market activists since they believed that this law has not any positive effect.
