Use of “defined access” mobile averts offences: a cleric

“”Defined access” or “Family” mobile phone service currently provided by some operators compels operators to provide service which are tuned to subscribers’ requirements hence preventing unwanted calls and pictures,” Shahr-e Ray (southern Tehran) Friday prayer leader, hojatoleslam Abbasali Akhtari told Mobna news agency.
“If the service could satisfy the public telecom needs but at the same time prevent misdeed in that field many of present problems will be prevented,” he elaborated.
He said new technologies such as television, satellite television, internet and mobile phone are communication means which could be addictive, and if the authorities cannot prevent mobile phone offense then they should take measures in informing the public.
Referring to a speech by Qom (Iran clerical center) Friday prayer leader that the mobile phone is a threat to family and public security, he said: “The authorities should offer solutions to the problem.”
“The enemy is, directly or indirectly, targeting the public and families and we should prevent them from achieving their goals,” he concluded
