Mobile phone antenna safety regulation compilation

Information & Communication Technology are to compile regulation standards on mobile antenna safety.
Gholam-Reza Edalati, in conversation with MOBNA, stressed that lack of directives regarding new technologies, such as mobile phone, would endanger safety of human beings, and added that since launch of mobile phone antennas in the country is on the increase, and in some cases on the roof of houses, it is necessary that there is a guideline in that respect, which, alas, has been absent.
He warned that excessive launch of such antennas could in future prove dangerous to the public and for that reason telecom companies have been advised to launch, whenever possible, shared towers.
He stressed that in compilation of such a manual three standards are observed:
Firstly, the tower itself conforms to a safety standard;
Secondly, the site of the tower can withstand strong earthquakes;
Thirdly, the tower’s magnetic density is suitable. Experiments have so far shown that they are generally acceptable but some need re-examination.
Public resistance to launch of BTS antennas in their vicinity, following rumors that they are harmful to health, has, however, prevented mobile phone operators from launching BTS antennas is some residential areas.
There are now nearly 300 blind areas in Tehran.
