Smuggled Nokia sets come through Iraq and Dubai
”They are smuggled in from neighboring countries,” Mahmoud Behjat Ardakani told Mobna news agency.
”The increase in mobile smuggling has led most authorized companies to continue their business with minimum activity,” he added.
”The 25 percent import tariff on mobile sets, with three percent value-added tax, is the main reason for the smuggling as well as authorized companies’ inactivity,” he said.
”Lack of control over vendors who deal with smuggled mobile sets and customers’ tendency to buy such commodities have led to over 95 percent of mobile set market being controlled by illegal activists,” he continued.
Arkan Ertebatat is a distributor of Nokia mobile sets with official warrantees.
