Economic Council to reject mobile operators without sim card quota

“All mobile phone operators should have a sim card quota beyond which they are not permitted to issue, otherwise the Economic Council would not approve them,” Ali Motahhari told Mobna news agency.
He indicated all current operators had sim card quota or the Parliament or RCRO would deal with it as breach of license.
The Iranian-foreign operator , IranCell-MTN, has so far issued around 40m sim cards although the company, which has been registered in South Africa, had earlier announced in its web site it had around 23m subscribers.
The company’s Iranian license, however, indicates its sim card quota at 15.8m.
