Iranian mobile market not out of recession despite foreign analyzers’ prediction

Managers of authorized companies believe that the cut in public’s purchasing power and high import tariff on mobiles have led to the current recession.
“Since a huge part of the mobile market is owned by smugglers, there is no room for warranted imported mobile sets,” managing director of Arkan Ertebatat, authorized distributor of Nokia mobiles in Iran announced.
“The public’s continued cash shortage since the end of last year has led to the current recession,” Mahmoud Behjat Ardakani added.
“It is predicted that the recession will continue the end of current Iranian year,” he said.
Meanwhile, Pars Comtel managing director believes the market has been faced with recession since the end of last Iranian year because of low public demand and that will continue until the end of this year.
“Mobile sets in 500,000-2 million rials price range are favored more by customers,” Hosein Payandeh added.
Foreign analysts had predicted that the Iranian mobile market would grow by fall and beginning of winter.
