Smuggled expensive mobile sets import continue

Since the price gap between expensive mobile sets imported through legal channels which come with warranty and those smuggled and bear no warranty is meaningful therefore the smuggled ones are in high demand.
Implementing 25 percent tariff of mobile set import was not successful in decreasing the smuggled sets and people continue to buy smuggled mobile sets.
It used to 60 percent.
Currently most mobile sets which their prices are less than 1.5 million rials (150 dollars) are imported via legal means. Also expensive mobile sets are imported legally in low quantities.
Market insiders believe that with decreasing mobile sets import tariff from 25 percent to 10 percent, authorized importers should import expensive mobile sets more than before.
