MCI’s GPRS confined to internet services: deputy minister

“MCI is ready to provide its mobile phone internet service and will extend it to the rest of the country after its test trail phase in Tehran and Karaj has ended,” Vafa Ghaffarian told Mobna news agency.
He said the operators mms service will then be launched.
It is nearly a month since MCI’s mms test trial phase started in Tehran and Karaj, yet subscribers have been unable to adjust their mobile sets for the service since MCI’s website which provides GPRS services is not available.
ICT minister had earlier announced that the service would be extended to MCI subscribers on 50,000-per-week basis going up to nearly 2 million if “no undue problem arose.”
He had also announced that the service would then be extended quickly to Isfahan, Tabriz, Mashed and Shiraz subscribers.
The tariff for connection to the internet via mobile phone has been set at 8.14 rial per kbyte.
The 09990 hotline has been dedicated to subscriber’s queries and questions regarding the service.
