10 percent tariff of mobile sets import can not be executed: mobile phone manufacturer

“So if this tariff gets final approval then Emad semi conductor company activity will be stopped,” managing director Hamidreza Monji told Mobna news agency.
“In fact the 10 percent tariff approval will lead to shut down domestic producers and to ruin domestic mobile sets production,” Monji added.
“So far the company has invested more than 100 billion rials (10 million dollars) for mobile sets production. But with this 10 percent tariff we will go bankrupt,” he added.
Two years have past since mobile sets import tariff has been increased in order to support domestic production.
Increasing mobile sets import tariff from four percent to 60 percent and decreasing it to 25 percent could not pave the way to produce mobile sets in country.
Also in recent two years producers could not fulfill their commitments to produce two million mobile phones annually. 
The only reason was increasing mobile sets smuggling in mobile phone market.
