Persian sms software non-existent in the country: market expert

“All softwares sold as Persian sms are in fact Arabic ones, and the authorities in fact have done nothing towards production of Persian sms software for the mobile phone,” Mohammad-Bagher Towhidi told Mobna news agency.
He suggested that officials at the Information & Communication Technology ministry should first think of producing Persian software before setting out on propagating the Persian sms in the country.
“Unfortunately theres, so much mismanagement in both the ministry and Mobile Company of Iran which have remained unresolved in the 15 years that the mobile phone has been in existence in the country,” he added.
He said that 90 percent of mobile sets are not equipped with Persian software because the sets have been custom-made for other countries.
“15 percent of sms do not reach their destinations, yet the sender is charged for the service.” he added.
He insisted that mobile phone operators should concentrate on giving good service to their subscribers and refrain from selling sim cards that are not supported by proper services.
“For example, most of the sim cards produced by IranCell could only function on ordinary sets, which is too little from an operator such as IranCell.” he said, referring to the second nation wide mobile operator.
Towhidi added that in other parts of the world a mobile phone operator which provides good service to its subscribers is praised, while in this country the operator that fails to offer good service to the subscribers is the one who is honored the most.
“The shortage of expert personnel in some departments of the telecommunication ministry has become a major preoccupation for the government, and we hope by training suitable workforce in the country we manage to overcome the problem,” he concluded.
