General contractors of Mobile Company ended their operation
“First stage of settling account with two general contractor of Mobile Company of Iran (MCI) has ended, and next stages of settling their accounts are following their procedures. If we finish these stages then we have finished we can say that the contractors work are done,” telecommunication minister deputy Vafa Ghafarian told Mobna news agency.
The main task of these general contractors is to set up BTS sites. Base Transceiver Station (BTS) is the equipment which facilitates the wireless communication between user equipments such as mobile phones.
“Third phase of developing mobile phone network which was being done by these contractors, did not progress during last months. Therefore we decided to go ahead with provincial contractors,” he added.
“Delay fine had been envisaged in their agreements and a committee is acting regarding this issue,” he added.
It was planned that third phase of Mobile Company of Iran network development project to be finalized by April 2005.
According to last figure, general contractor company “Behin Ertebet Mehr” till now has delivered 90 percent of project, and two other general contractor companies “Khadamat Ericsson” and “Pars Irate” each has delivered more than 82 percent of their commitments.
Third phase of Mobile Company of Iran network development project is aimed to launch 4,700 mobile phone BTS sites. The project was given to three general contractors in April 2004. The contractors were commited to deliver this project by April 2005.
