Iranian government sms earnings decreased by 30 percent: minister
“In recent five years no fees have changed. Currently fee for sending Persian sms is set at 89 rials (less than one cent),” Telecommunication Minister Mohammad Soleimani said.
“Sms sending has spread all over. On new Iranian years eve 250 million sms were sent while last Iranian year it was around 3.5 million,” he added.
“Totally there we have 39 million subscribers. In current situation failure in making mobile calls and lacking signals is only in Tehran and in other cities quality of mobile phone network is appropriate,” Soleimani said.
“After telecommunication privatization, private companies can do more on networks integration,” he added.
“Currently Telcommunication Company of Iran can not create an integrated network like private companies,” the minister added.
“Variety of laws has caused to variety of fees,” Soleimani replied to question that how come there are a number of different fees for mobile phones.
Currently call fees from landline to an Irancell number is 625 rials (six cents), to a Taliya number is 750 rials (seven cents) and to a Moblie Company of Iran (MCI) number is 49 rials (five cents).
“Roaming fee has been set according to international regulations, and international organizations set theses regulations and fees.
“The entire roaming fee is generally high and it is better for subscribers to use the sim card of the country they travel to,” Soleimani advised.
