Iranian mobile News Media Review Saturday June 21, 2008

• Iranian government decree states that in order to preserve the Persian language and calligraphy from June 21 each sent sms in Persian fonts will cost subscriber 89 rials (fraction of a US cent) and each sent sms using non Persian fonts will cost subscriber 222 rials (around 2 US cents).

• An Iranian telecommunication ministry official told the ISNA news agency that it is predicted that within the next month at most the call for tender for the third nation wide mobile operator will be announced. The Russian operator Megafon and others from China, UK, Indonesia and United Arab Emirates are among them.

• A high ranking telecommunication expert told Mobna that most mobile subscriber find getting commercials and advertisement by mobile annoying and violation of the citizens rights.

• An Iranian deputy telecommunication minister told Mobna that with third nation-wide mobile phone operator becoming operational around three trillion rials (320 million dollars) worth of foreign investment will be injected into the country.
