He indicated that at the start of the 9th government there were only 8m mobile phone subscribers, but now, after 2.5 years, there are 39m subscribers.
He said that during that period its price fell from 4,400,000 Rial to 2,280,000 Rial and will still further to 1,500,000 Rial in next fortnight.
He added that landline phones, which were delivered on demand in 5 provinces at the beginning of the 9th government, are now available in all 30 provinces, where applicants may receive within one month, and middlemen have all but vanished.
He revealed that all of the ICT ministry’s projects are now running ahead of schedule.
He pointed out the Fourth Development Plan stipulates that at the end of the Plan villages with over 50 households should have telephones, which they intend to extend the plan to all villages, irrespective of household limit, a year ahead of schedule.
He said an Iranian household now owns, on average, 4.5 phones (3 mobiles and 1.5 landlines).
While the present government has been in office, internet bandwidth has increased from 9 links to 38 links and will shortly reach 48 links.
He said, finally, that internet penetration rate now stands at 27%, which shows internet access is now easier and cheaper.
