Consortium ready for mobile phone equipments installation

Mansour Kabiri-Rahni, in conversation with MOBNA, said the consortium has so far received no request from Mobile Telecommunications regarding installation of equipments, but the consortium are quite prepared for the task.
He added the production of 6m mobile phone equipments will be fulfilled as planned, and so far no major problem has been encountered.
The project, which was to manufacture equipments such as BTS antennas for 6m mobile phones, was commissioned to a consortium comprising 6 domestic manufactures to complete the task in 18 months.
Iran Telecommunication Manufacturing Company (ITMC), Iran Telecommunication Industries (ITI), SaShiraz, Iran Electronic Components Industries, Micro-Moaj and Mobile Telecommunications Technologies form the consortium.
The consortium are required to manufacture 3,566 BTS antennas, 60 BSC systems and OMC control centers, 2,255 radio links and 3,566 GSM antennas and accessories which are all designed and manufactured in the country.
The project’s total cost is estimated at around 1,680b Rial, 15% of which has been prepaid to the consortium and other payments will take place as the project progresses.
The Consortium president had earlier announced that they will move along exporting such equipments once the project has ended.
