RCRO’s non-involvement in SMS tariff values

Cabinet, and Radio Communication & Regulations Organization has played no part in the decision.
The source, who did not wish to be named, told MOBNA the Latin SMS tariff will be definitely applied from June 21.
According to the source, it seems the Cabinet’s sanction rules out the General Inspectorate’s complaint that the tariff is unfair.
RCRO, which is a Ministry of Information & Communication Technology subsidiary, has also requested the tariff to be lowered.
The Cabinet, however, in a bid to popularize the Persian SMS, lowered its tariff and raised the Latin SMS tariff instead.
Last March, Latin SMS tariff was raised from 147 Rial to 222 Rial, while for a 60-charcter Persian SMS it was lowered from 147 Rial to 89 Rial.
According to official figures, the 25m Hamraah-e Avval subscribers transmit nearly 40m SMS messages daily.
