Tehran’s free mobile TV

 charge and for the time being confined to Tehran area only.
Jahangir Aghazaade, in conversation with MOBNA, said mobile phone subscribers who have installed the DBV-H standard on their handsets can view 10 TV channels.
He indicated the service is available for the time being to Tehran residents only, which may be extended to other areas once the necessary budget is allocated to them.
Aghazaade stressed DBV-H protocol is a special standard whereby TV programs can be viewed via mobile handsets although it is not connected with the network but it is, in fact, a mobile TV.
He said in mobile TV the quality of the picture is similar to that of an ordinary TV, and there is also no limit to the number of viewers.
The service was officially inaugurated on Mar 13 by the IIRB chief.
In its first phase, 10 TV and 4 radio channels may be used by Tehran subscribers.
The mobile TV technology has been in use in few countries such as France, Germany and Italy, and, in the Middle East region, Iran is the second country that has adopted the service provided that the DBV-H standard has been installed on the mobile phone handset.
